William Price House - 910 Fell Street
William Price was a prosperous builder of Baltimore schooners in the late
1700s. The substantial house looks as it did then except that a full
third floor has replaced the original top half story. Price's shipyard,
where he built the USS Hornet (1805), stretched behind the house, a
typical pattern for Fells Point yards. William's house faces that of his
son, John Price, also a ship-wright, who lived at 909 Fell Street. Frederick
Douglass worked at the Prices' shipyard just before he made his escape to
freedom.
